Ompah, Ontario, Canada
Located in Ompah by the Mississippi River at 1311 Struthadam. Riverhill Farm has been in our family for over a hundred years. My great grandmother was born and raised on the farm, and my grandfather then ran the farm for some time raising beef cattle. Later In the late seventies and into the eighties my family was making maple syrup again. We stopped making syrup at the end of the eighties. The bush sat idle until till my parents started making syrup In 1995 when they fired the family evaporator for the first time since the eighties. That year we had close to 1500 taps. In 1997 we built a brand new sugar camp, also installed a brand new evaporator. In 1998 we were hit with the Ice Storm. A minor set back, but we pushed through. We had around 3200 taps. We grew again in 2001 to close to 5600 taps. In 2004 we grew again to close to 6700 taps. In 2005 my parents decided to stop tapping the bush and it rested until 2013. After completing my schooling at Kemptville College I returned home,
